Here's a quick snapshot of recent bid opportunities Techwire is following:
1. The California State Teachers' Retirement System (CalSTRS) released an RFP to solicit proposals from qualified firms to provide Maintenance and Operations services for its SAP Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system. Known internally as BusinessDirect, CalSTRS relies primarily on the SAP Enterprise Core Component, which incorporates functionality for maintaining CalSTRS' financial and management needs. CalSTRS also uses SAP’s Business Intelligence Module and SAP’s Supplier Relationship Management Module for procurement functionality, the organization says. CalSTRS currently has an M&O contract expiring Sept. 30, 2016 and intends to engage a provider and begin working in the fall 2016 time period. 2. California's Employment Development Department is seeking a contractor to analyze information technology and other business functions for its short-time compensation program, known as Work Sharing (WS). The contract opportunity is capped at approximately $1.5 million. Implemented in 1978, California's Work Sharing program "helps employers avert layoffs and retain their skilled employees when they are experiencing financial difficulties, especially during economic downturns. Employees of these participating employers will remain employed while working reduced hours, but the WS program will help to offset their wage loss with Unemployment Insurance benefits." 3. The Department of General Services has released a bid seeking vendors to provide printers and multifunctional devices (MFDs) to the state of California and participating local governmental agencies at contracted pricing. The devices are divided into four contract categories: personal desktops, office printers, multifunctional devices and plotters. According to the state, about $20 million has been procured through the existing contracts as of the beginning of 2016. Draft bids are due April 7. Read more about this bid here.
4. The California Governor's Office of Emergency Services is soliciting feedback on a future bid opportunity that will award multiple contracts for Next-Gen 911 core services. The procured services will process 911 emergency telephone calls to the Public Safety Answering Points (PSAPs). The CalOES 911 Branch procures next-gen 911 services via tariff rates, CALNET 2 Master Service Agreements that expire in January 2018. Read more about this future opportunity here.
5. The Department of General Services is inviting contractors that hold a current IT Master Services Agreement with the department to submit RFOs for providing Oracle Systems experts to assist in modifications of the department's system interfaces. Specifically, DGS is modifying its Human Resources (HR) and Project Accounting and Leave (PAL) applications that will interface with the Financial Information System for California (FI$Cal).
