DMV to hold second workshop on driverless vehicle regulations

On Tuesday, June 18, the Department of Motor Vehicles will hold its second public workshop for stakeholders to participate in the development of regulations related to the testing and use of autonomous vehicles in California.

After SB 1298 (Padilla – D-Pacoima) was signed into law last year, the department was required to create an application and approval process for operating autonomous vehicles on California roads. The legislation also calls for the establishment of safety and performance standards and requires that vehicles meet all safety and performance requirements already in state and federal law.

The workshop is scheduled for June 18, starting at 10:00 a.m. in the Assembly Room of the Department of Motor Vehicles Headquarters located at 2415 First Avenue in Sacramento.

The DMV will stream a live webcast of the event from it’s website.
