Becoming a CIO means you’ve entered the "relay race!" You asked for it, and now you’ve got it – you have been selected as a new Chief Information Officer and so the work begins to make a successful transition from your current role to your new role. The institutional knowledge that you will be taking with you must be preserved and passed on to the team you will leave behind. And, as you assess your new department you will begin the process of developing your transition plan to minimize disruption and speed time-to-productivity. Critical information must be preserved and passed in both directions to ensure an effective transition for CIOs. This session will engage the audience in humorous, insightful and provocative discussions with experienced CIOs sharing how they manage transitions when they accept new roles, continuously plan for knowledge transfer, and assess capabilities to identify strengths and weaknesses of the new team. Participants will leave the session with new insights and a thoughtfully prepared guide to take with them, as they pursue their dreams of entering the "relay race."
