Digital Transformation in Real Life: LA County Department of Mental Health, May 6th 1:30PM – 3:00pm
Speaker: Mirian Avalos, Chief Information Officer, LA County Department of Mental Health (DMH)
Description: Find an available and appropriate bed for someone, get them Services they need, monitor what meds they are on and which docs are prescribing what, and hopefully help heal broken minds.
Hear from Mirian Avalos, CIO of LA Count DMH as she shares her agency’s journey in finding a platform that could meet their needs and provide solutions for a variety of business apps. She will discuss how, while finalizing the deployment of their new Electronic Medical Record solution, they were finding functionality gaps and needed to find ways to deliver solutions both internally and for service providers. By working with Microsoft to identify new solutions and ensuring the initial projects moved forward, they ended up delivering a wide range of solutions that could be leveraged to manage the data exchange, visualize the information and leverage Modern Identity to secure the workloads with the provider community.
The Dynamics 365 solution at DMH incorporates elements of patient experience and provider management. With 15 inter-related application workloads targeted to the platform, some have been in production for months, others have just gone live and still others scheduled to be delivered in coming months. Patient experience applications automate and improve patient interactions ranging from things like logging constituent calls and handling grievance reports, to locating mental health resources on the basis of available services and geography/distance. Provider management applications facilitate providers updating information on their services, capacity, certifications, etc.. Ultimately, these applications play a key role in compliance reporting to state and national regulating authorities.
