In 1971,  it was assumed that French wine would easily win The Judgement of Paris but it turned out that the Ridge Vineyards placed fourth in the original tasting in 1976 and when the revenge year came 30 years later, their 1971 Monte Bello placed first in this same blind tasting competition.
