Story #12: The next version of California Email Services (CES) will become the state’s primary email platform, expanding upon the current CES offering hosted by Microsoft in the Office 365 environment, which accounts for 100,000 of the state’s 200,000 mailboxes. Another 80,000 mailboxes currently are housed within CA Mail, the state’s in-house email system running on a Microsoft Exchange platform. It appears CA Mail users eventually will be migrated into the hosted CES system after the new contract is awarded in early 2015.
