2014 Year in Review: Statewide Project Management Office Approved in State Budget

Story #22: The 2014-15 state budget signed by Gov. Jerry Brown in June included funding for four new positions to support a Statewide Project Management Office at the Department of Technology. The team of experts "will be responsible for developing the framework for the office, which will ultimately consist of experienced project managers who will manage information technology projects across the state," according to budget trailer bill language. The creation of a statewide project management office was one of the 21 recommendations made last summer by a task force established by Brown and State Controller John Chiang to address concerns raised by the failed MyCalPays project.
