Story #10:
Government Technology publisher e.Republic Inc. this year acquired Techwire.net, a news website covering public-sector technology in California. The deal, announced in March, is an effort by e.Republic to strengthen its coverage of the government market for private-sector readers. Techwire.net operates as a stand-alone website and focuses on policy challenges and market opportunities created by the rapid infusion of technology into traditional infrastructure — like power grids and transportation systems — as well as government programs. The site’s emphasis on covering these issues for a business audience complements e.Republic’s govtech.com and governing.com platforms, which primarily serve government readers. e.Republic CEO Dennis McKenna said the addition of Techwire positions his company to "deliver in-depth coverage" of evolving issues for varying audiences. Techwire founder and publisher Bill Maile was named industry and markets editor for e.Republic.
