State agencies are recruiting for a couple of IT-related positions of note.
The state Department of Community Services and Development’s Administrative Services Division is seeking a Deputy Director (Career Executive Assignment) for its Community Service and Energy Assistance programs, which includes oversight of contracts, accounting, budgets, IT, FI$Cal implementation, audit services, human resources and business services. CSD is a small agency with about 105 employees, charged with administering and enhancing energy and community service programs that benefit low-income Californians.
Desirable qualifications for this position, as detailed in the job description, include:
• Strong leadership skills with the ability to assess situations and take corrective action.
• Strong experience in financial operations, e.g., budget preparation.
• Knowledge and experience with the state and federal budget processes (e.g., budget change proposals and working with Department of Finance and the Legislature).
• Working knowledge of IT systems applications.
• Direct managerial or supervisory experience in fiscal operations, IT, human resources, business services, audit services and contract services.
The monthly salary range for this position is $7,190 to $10,334, and the application deadline is Feb. 1.
The second noteworthy management position in recruitment is by the state Department of Justice, which is seeking an Application Development Manager (IT Manager II) to oversee the Solutions Development Services Section and Managed Applications Services Section. These sections cover application development, the Criminal Information Sharing projects, SharePoint development and Automated Fingerprint Identification Systems.
The Application Development Manager “will supervise directly, or through subordinate managers and supervisors, a team of technical specialists in software engineering, system engineering, client services and biometric identification system processing,” according to the job posting. The manager also coordinates services for numerous grant awards in addition to coordinating with local, state and federal agencies and programs in California and nationwide. The position calls for experience “managing and supervising a large, highly technical and interdisciplinary staff,” as well as a background in the application development life cycle, including experience with waterfall and agile, and in building client relationships to assess their technology solution and security needs.
The salary range for this position is $9,262 to $11,258, and the application deadline is Feb. 4.
