Two California state agencies are recruiting for two key roles.
The California Department of Public Health (CDPH) is accepting applications for the position of deputy director of the IT Services Division (ITSD), a Career Executive Assignment. The role “has broad responsibility for ITSD, establishes enterprise IT governance and sets strategic direction through the formulation of an IT Strategic Plan that identifies fundamental performance and quality improvement measures that align with, and are critical to, the department’s mission and vision,” the job posting says. The deputy director is responsible for the management of more than 280 state staff members, three IT managers and one chief technology officer across five IT branches. The deputy director also oversees IT Data Center operations and IT functions including security management, application development, enterprise project and portfolio management, enterprise change management, and quality assurance, architecture and administrative support for CDPH, including executive sponsorship and support for the state’s largest public health IT projects.
The application deadline is Oct. 23, and the monthly salary range is $11,505 to $13,688.
The California Department of Transportation is recruiting for a research data specialist III to work with geographic information systems (GIS) in support of the Office of Data Services and Technology on the department’s new Linear Referencing System (LRS) software platform.
“Working closely and collaboratively with a diverse team of GIS researchers, transportation planners, transportation engineers, land surveyors and information technology professionals, the incumbent will play a principal, often leading, role in ensuring the LRS platform is successfully implemented,” the job posting says. The specialist will also act as the technical GIS lead for the continued development and management of the Rebuilding California database and Web application.
