The California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation (CDCR) is recruiting for an Information Security Officer (IT Manager II) whose responsibilities will include overseeing policy, procedure, and strategic and emergency planning for all data and information assets.
The role is expected to shift from CDCR’s Division of Juvenile Justice (DJJ) to the new Department of Youth and Community Restoration (DYCR) on or after July 1, 2020. DYCR, which was created by the 2019-2020 Governor’s Budget, is an independent department under the California Health and Human Services Agency.
The Information Security Officer (ISO) role also includes responsibility for personnel, infrastructure, inside and outside threats, Internal Affairs, security awareness, security operations, and other resources.
“Responsibility also includes maintaining maximum security for continued access to systems outside of the department required to complete our mission, goals, and objectives,” the job posting says. “Failure to effectively manage security could jeopardize the safety and security of staff, wards and the public. This position may have subordinate staff upon 7/1/2020 establishment of new department.”

The monthly salary range for this position is $9,262 to $11,258, and the application deadline is March 5.
