Steven Galvez, a seasoned technology professional based in Sacramento, has joined Appian as senior account executive for state and local government and education in the West.
Galvez has more than 30 years’ experience in gov tech, having served in both the public and private sectors.
“Fun fact: I am a previous state employee, which is where I established my passion for serving the state from an IT consulting perspective,” Galvez told Industry Insider — California in an email. Galvez’s experience includes consulting roles in the California Department of Social Services, the California Highway Patrol and the California Prison Industry Authority, which is part of the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation.
“I am excited to institute our technology and contribute to IT success in California,” Galvez added.
Alex Johnson, Appian’s regional vice president for SLED West, said he’s pleased to have Galvez handling SLED accounts in California.

Appian provides a software platform “that helps organizations run better processes that reduce costs, improve customer experiences, and gain a strategic edge.” Its clients include industry as well as the public sector.
Before joining Appian, Galvez’s background includes having served as senior vice president and partner in Eskel Porter Consulting and in account executive, director and specialist positions with Salesforce, Vlocity (now part of Salesforce), AST LLC, Red River, Google, Publicis Sapient and UiPath.
He is a graduate of UC Davis with a Bachelor of Science in political science and public service.
