California counties rank in annual survey by Center for Digital Government

While East Coast counties appear to have made a clean sweep, winning first place in all categories of this year’s technology survey of counties across the nation, three California jurisdictions ranked within the top ten, according to Government Technology.   Nevada, Sacramento and San Diego counties were all recognized for their advanced use of  technology to serve their citizens, streamline operations and achieve measurable benefits.

The annual survey is conducted by the Center for Digital Government in conjunction with the National Association of Counties.  Hundreds of submissions, based on work done in 2012, were judged by a panel of experts, including Center for Digital Government executives.

Survey questions included issue areas such as computing, networking, applications, data and cybersecurity, open government, mobile services, among others.

California winners included:

Population of 500,000 or more population category:

  • 3rd County of San Diego, Calif.
  • 6th Sacramento County, Calif.
Population of less than 150,000 category:

  •  3rd Nevada County, Calif.
