The California Office of Emergency Services has released an RFI seeking information from bidders who can provide Text to 911 Services, maintenance and operation.

According to the draft IFB, the goal is to make Text to 911 Services available at all — about 450  primary and secondary Public Safety Answering Points (PSAPs) in California. As of May, only 68 PSAPs were using Text to 911 Services.

The CA 9-1-1 Branch’s current contract will expire in February 2018, and a transition period from January to April will take place.

Interested vendors are not required to respond to this RFI to bid on the RFP, which will be released on Sept. 17.

The maximum contract amount has not been determined yet. The term of contract will be three years with four optional one-year extensions.

The intended award date is Jan. 11, with a project start date of Jan. 31.

The RFI’s due date is Tuesday. All questions should be directed to Sandra Morales.
