The California Air Resources Board (CARB) is recruiting for an IT acquisitions manager (IT Manager I) to oversee the planning and directing of the work of the IT Procurement Contracts and Reporting Section.

That section is responsible for the implementation, enhancement and maintenance of CARB’s office automation computer systems and supporting infrastructure.

“This position works on the most highly complex, high-risk, politically sensitive and high-cost IT procurements and IT contracts that may or may not be because of an IT project,” the job posting reads.

The “highly desirable” qualifications include:
  • IT goods and services procurement experience
  • Writing and documentation skills
  • Ability to multi-task
  • Strong leadership skills and experience supervising IT staff
According to the job posting and duty statement, the IT Procurement Contracts and Reporting Section “provides desktop computer and printer support, email/calendaring support, IT acquisitions, training and Service Desk and resource center support,” as well as all voice, video and data communications services to all CARB end users.

The incumbent “participates in executive-level decisions and execution of strategies,” and also “manages and provides direction on solicitation vehicles and methods to utilize for formal or informal IT goods and/or services procurements,” the posting says. That includes requests for proposals, offers, quotations and information.

The manager “must provide in-depth knowledge and guidance on procurement and contracting strategies, processes, policies, project management, budget management and administrative and personnel practices,” the posting says.

The monthly salary range is $9,114-$12,213, and the application deadline is Feb. 2.
