In his new role, Lovato-Winston will focus on identity verification with the Maryland-based company, which just celebrated its first year in business.

The latter sector has made news in California in recent years with the rise of phantom students — fictitious enrollees in community colleges and universities who seek benefits payments. “Through the development of tailored analytics platforms, we enable data visualization, forecasting, and fraud analysis to drive data-informed decision-making,” the company says on its website.
Lovato-Winston has a deep background in technology, having experience in solution architecture, engineering, sales, consulting, programming and developing. Before joining Voyatek in March, his affiliations have included Softbank Content Services, Red Eye Digital Media, Fleet Numeric Meteorology and Oceanography Center, Monterey Bay Aquarium, FDI Collateral Management, POS Portal, TEK Systems, Objective Systems Integrators, KPMG, Pegasystems, IDEMIA and Socure.
“I bridge tech and business interests between service providers and clients,” Lovato-Winston says in his LinkedIn profile. “With expertise in identity verification and fraud mitigation, I create solutions, demos, and key partnerships to drive growth and innovation.”
Lovato-Winston holds a Project Management Professional (PMP) certification from the Project Management Institute and is a Pega Certified System Architect. He earned his Bachelor of Science in telecommunications, multimedia and applied computing from California State University at Monterey Bay and his master’s in business administration with an emphasis on technology from Western Governors University.
Off the job, Lovato-Winston said, he enjoys hobbies.
“When not thinking about ghost students,” he told Industry Insider, “I am either playing guitar or working on construction projects in my backyard (giant greenhouse on the way).”
