Ruben, based in Torrance, has spent the last eight years working exclusively in gov-ed, “identifying and understanding the unique needs and challenges faced by public-sector agencies.”

“Having responsibility for all of Southern California, my primary goal is to promote brand awareness and to communicate what differentiates Comcast Business, and our go-to-market strategy, from other service providers,” Ruben told Industry Insider — California. “In the long run, I seek to establish a solid foundation of market knowledge to position Comcast Business for near-term success and long-term growth by delivering relevant, cutting-edge solutions to our customers.”

Ruben has a deep background in the industry, having held management and executive positions with Sprint, Level 3 Communications and Verizon Enterprise Solutions before joining Comcast Business.

“I chose to join Comcast Business for a few reasons,” Ruben said. “First of all, the company culture is amazing. There is an employee-focused philosophy that encourages personal well-being and development. Second, Comcast’s profitability drives this market expansion effort and enables investment into key acquisitions and partnerships that complete a robust portfolio of managed and non-managed solutions that truly add value for customers needing our support.

“When I was tapped to join the market expansion effort in Southern California, I couldn’t have been more excited! I knew it was going to be a challenge, but an exciting one that I am absolutely thrilled to be a part of. Comcast Business has a unique opportunity here because we are investing heavily into a market where some are not.”

Ruben outlined his top goals as he takes on his new role.

“The technology landscape is constantly changing, and government agencies are doing their absolute best to keep up and to effectively utilize the tools and resources they have to stay in front of the wave,” he said. “But in some cases, resources may be spread too thin, and workloads can become staggering. These are scenarios where agencies consider outsourcing when it makes sense, and this is where Comcast Business excels.

“The COVID pandemic pushed workers to remote locations, and IoT [Internet of Things] applications are steadily on the rise. These business scenarios significantly expand the attack surface, and bad actors are having a field day. It is a published fact there is currently a shortage of qualified cybersecurity talent available in the market, so Comcast’s cyber solutions can be tremendous assets for organizations struggling to keep their infrastructure secure. I believe the Comcast portfolio of security solutions is exceptional, and I need to make sure our public-sector clients are aware of it.”

Ruben is an alumnus of the University of Southern California, where he studied business administration. He and his wife Francine live in the South Bay and have two grown daughters. They enjoy “empty-nesting, and traveling as time permits,” he said.
