The State Controller’s Office has hired Folsom-based Visionary Integration Professionals (VIP) to provide project management support for the MyCalPAYs project.
A Dec. 1 contract for $720,720.00 calls for VIP to "provide a Project Management Support Team to assist the SCO Project Management Office in an efficient execution and integration of MyCalPAYS."
The support team will have duties that include managing the deliverable process, identifying and solving potential issues and risks, managing the project schedule and assisting in making a different schedule as needed, according to agency spokesman Jacob Roper.
MyCalPAYs has struggled with the data conversion issues typical of a major legacy modernization project. The first of five waves was launched this summer to eventually include 160 departments across state government.
On Nov. 19, the SCO signed a $475,000 contract with Cooperative Personnel Services to "validate the accuracy of all aspects of payroll issued by the MyCalPAYS system since going live."
A recent Los Angeles Times report says project is "in danger of collapsing" due to missed deadlines and unexpected costs.
