Deputy Chief Information Officer (Career Executive Assignment)
$11,778 to $14,032 per month

Covered California seeks an “inspirational” deputy CIO “to champion technology innovation, drive strategic IT initiatives, and elevate the consumer experience at the intersection of healthcare and technology,” the job posting says.

“This is no ordinary technology leadership role,” the posting says. “As deputy CIO, you will lead a high-impact department responsible for the strategy, development, and operation of mission-critical, consumer-facing platforms. … Beyond managing systems, you'll shape the future of healthcare access by creating responsible AI frameworks and advanced analytics solutions, establishing enterprise-wide technology strategies, managing a talented team dedicated to public service, and collaborating with federal, state, and industry partners to pioneer solutions with national impact.”

Candidates should have experience in:
  • Building, coaching, and inspiring high-performance teams of architects, product owners, analysts, designers, developers, testers, and Agile scrum masters delivering mission-critical, consumer-facing applications.
  • Developing business-outcome-focused IT strategic plans.
  • Leading all aspects of the System Development Life Cycle (strategy, human-centered design, development, organizational change management, maintenance and operations).
  • Leading extraordinarily effective technology portfolio and project management offices.

CAL FIRE
Assistant Information Security Officer (IT Specialist II)
$8,374 to $11,220 per month

Reporting to the chief information security officer, the assistant information security officer serves as a key adviser on cybersecurity matters and leads the implementation and maturation of security governance, policy development, risk management, compliance efforts, and incident response, ensuring alignment with statewide standards and frameworks.

In addition, according to the job posting, the AISO:
  • Serves as the lead for the Governance, Risk, and Compliance (GRC) program.
  • Provides on-site technical support to mobilized CAL FIRE employees by resolving issues related to basic computer hardware and software installation, among other service requests.
  • Ensures the department’s security awareness training platform and related processes comply with annual training mandates.
  • Manages the Privacy Office inbox and responds to privacy inquiries.
  • Represents CAL FIRE at Agency ISO meetings, serves on relevant committees, and provides subject matter expertise on emerging threats, insider risks, and policy implications.
