- Collaborate and support: Oversee cloud architecture work of external consultants to ensure alignment with business needs and stakeholders and collaborate with Data Infrastructure team members to guide and implement architectural improvements to cloud infrastructure (20 percent).
- Share and consult: Conduct presentations to share documented patterns and best practices utilized by the Data System through a variety of forums including communities of practice; and advise on cloud architecture requirements and needs as part of project solicitation, vetting and scoping processes (10 percent).
- Marginal functions (5 percent).
Desirable qualifications include:
- Current AWS Certified Solutions Architect or DevOps Engineer certification
- Experience integrating disparate data systems, preferably those housing educational data
- Experience designing and implementing CI/CD pipelines and cloud‐based data warehouse solutions (e.g., Snowflake)
- Experience designing and implementing Master Data Management (MDM) solutions (e.g., Tamr) and industry-standard Identity and Access Management (IAM) solutions (e.g., Ping Identity)

“You will be a proponent for modern data stack approaches at the state,” the job posting says. “You will ensure that data is available as a service for warehouses, digital services, dashboards, etc.” In addition, the incumbent will plan, develop and document policies and best practices, collaborating with other team members to help adopt modern cloud-based data practices.
