The year ended with the retirement of the director of Office of Systems Integration, Deborah Rose, who held an array of IT positions in the 24 years she worked for the state of California.
Chief Deputy Director Shelly Culp was named interim director of OSI, managing some of the largest IT projects at the state Health and Human Services Agency and EDD. Projects include UIMOD, the Electronic Benefit Transfer (EBT) system that issues public assistance benefits, and the Case Management, Information and Payrolling System (CMIPS) which tracks case information and processes payments for the California Department of Social Services.
Culp has spent more than 20 years working in state IT programs, including serving as chief information officer at the California Department of Toxic Substances Control. She also served as agency CIO for the Health and Human Services Agency.
Rose announced her retirement earlier this year. She served as director of the project management office within the California Health and Human Services Agency and in a variety positions at the Department of Social Services.
