Department Seeks IT Executive for Infrastructure Chief Position

The job includes managing people, creating and implementing policy, and identifying new technologies to help the department advance its mission.

The state Employment Development Department is recruiting for a chief of the Infrastructure Services Division, a Career Executive Assignment (C.E.A.) role for a team leader “who believes in their vision of developing and supporting a strong IT workforce and delivering innovative solutions.”

The division “provides leadership and direction to its internal and external customers in the use of technology, and ensures a secure technology infrastructure for the EDD,” the job posting says. “This includes project planning, policy development, system maintenance, support, operations and oversight of automated solutions within EDD. The ITB [Information Technology Branch] focuses on the identification, development, and deployment of new technologies in an enterprise architecture that leverages technology to meet these needs.”

The position reports to the deputy director of the ITB.

“You will be responsible for formulating policies for the EDD technology infrastructure, including servers, system software, database management systems, storage retrieval systems, telecommunications equipment and software, security equipment and software, which impacts all EDD programs,” the posting says. “As the chief, you will be responsible to plan, organize, direct and evaluate the activities of highly technical information technology  staff and oversee the IT Overhead budget of over $30 million per year.”

The chief will be a member of EDD’s executive staff and the ITB executive team and “will participate in executive-level policy and decision-making regarding the direction and effective application of IT to meet EDD’s business goals and objectives.” The chief will also work with other ITB divisions and other EDD programs “to ensure cohesive and timely IT project implementation and continually evaluate processes for future policy and procedural revisions.”

Application deadline is July 28, and the position has a monthly salary range of $10,010 to $11,924.
