The city of Salinas has included a $2.3 million building permitting system update in its 2026-2031 Capital Improvement Plan (CIP), listing it as a high-priority project.

According to the city financial documents, the Community Development Department is in the early stages of “acquiring new software services, hardware and technology implementation” for the system that manages permits issued by other city departments.

Currently, the city uses the TRAKIT system, QLess, OAS, Projectdox and virtual inspections hardware and software services that require updates to maintain a “higher level of customer service.”

The CIP notes that this update is expected to cost just less than $389,000 for each fiscal year until 2031. The document also noted that the project start date is set for July of this year.

More information about this item can be found in the city’s CIP document on page 30.
