DGS Sets 'Final FAQ Session' for End-of-Year Reports Under FI$Cal

The state is offering one last training session Friday on how agencies should complete Consolidated Annual Reports under the FI$Cal program. The deadline for agencies to file is Aug. 1.

With state agencies facing an Aug. 1 deadline for filing their Consolidated Annual Reports, the state’s master purchasing agency has scheduled a webinar to help procurement specialists get up to speed on what they need to do to close out the fiscal year.

The Department of General Services is inviting state Purchasing Authority Contacts (PACs), Procurement and Contracting Officers (PCOs) and advocates for Small Business/Disabled Veteran Business Enterprises (SB/DVBEs) to attend the webinar, which is scheduled from 9 a.m. to noon Friday.

The agency has conducted numerous training sessions since February. Friday’s session is billed as “one final Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) webinar session.”

The Financial Information System for California (FI$Cal) and DGS have gone live with Consolidated Annual Report (CAR) functionality, which is designed to simplify and standardize record-keeping for state agencies. Those reports are due to be filed by Aug. 1, closing out the fiscal year. Because the process is different from how most agencies filed their annual reports in the past, DGS is trying to ensure that all potential users of the system, as well as those using the State Contract and Procurement Registration System (SCPRS), are comfortable with the new system.

DGS advises that all state contracting and procurement officials who have CAR reporting responsibilities receive the training, regardless of whether their agencies are using FI$Cal. The topics to be covered in Friday’s session include:

  • Reporting in FI$Cal
  • Reporting in paper format
  • Reporting processes and timelines
  • Submittal and extension requirements
Registration for the webinar is available online. Those who RSVP via the link will receive an emailed log-in link and access code. For questions about the session, or about access under the Americans With Disabilities Act (ADA), contact Caesar Gutierrez via email or by phone at (916) 375-4931.
