Do you know Ada Lovelace?

Today is Ada Lovelace DayAda Lovelace is recognized as the first computer programmer and is the first Code Hero mentor in the just released Code Hero game. Code Hero is a game that teaches the player how to make games.

Ada Lovelace Day is all about blogging and sharing stories of women, from engineers to scientists, from technologists to mathematicians. Because women are underrepresented in the Information and Communication Technologies careers, we are interested in attracting more women into this exciting career pathway.

Over the last year, Women 2.0 has noted a number of technical women demonstrating leadership that propels them to the public sphere – from Jocelyn Goldfein (Director of Engineer, Facebook), an advocate for women to enter and stay in rewarding, high-achieving technology careers; Clara Shih (Founder and CEO of Hearsay Social) was 29 years old last year when she was appointed to the board of Starbucks. Yahoo! CEO Marissa Mayer makes headlines and changes perceptions of CEOs of large tech companies on a daily basis.

What do these women have in common? Computer science degrees from Stanford.
