EDD Puts Out Call for IT Manager Candidates

The Employment Development Department is looking for someone to oversee the Financial and Strategy Management Office within its Technology Governance Division.

The Employment Development Department (EDD) is looking for a qualified candidate to fill an open Information Technology Manager II position within its Technology Governance Division.

EDD is the largest tax collecting department in state government, according to its website, with around 10,000 employees and hundreds of offices across the state. Its mission is focused on employment insurance benefits and workforce development efforts.

This position would oversee the division’s Financial and Strategy Management Office, which includes the “IT procurement group, cost management group, IT legislative, audit and policy group, IT asset management group, and resource management group,” according to the job posting.

Desirable qualifications include (as written in the job description):

  • Extensive knowledge of the state’s budgetary and legislative process; procurement and contracting rules and practices; IT equipment, software, and accepted industry practices; and classification and pay administration, with a good understanding of personnel and performance management.
  • Strong ability to research, interpret, articulate, and disseminate complex financial data, legislation, and other technical/statistical information to a variety of audiences.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate professionally and effectively, both verbally and in writing, including the ability to negotiate credibly and persuasively, with a variety of stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, supervise, coordinate, train, motivate, appraise and develop staff.
  • Demonstrated ability to handle multiple lines of business and priorities simultaneously and effectively.
  • Exercise good judgment, work well under pressure, and meet deadlines.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to deal effectively with difficult, sensitive and confidential matters.
