EDD Recruiting for Cybersecurity Manager, Database Specialist

The cybersecurity manager will oversee the Security Policy Compliance Unit and be responsible for managing daily policy, standards and compliance operations.

The Employment Development Department (EDD) is recruiting for two positions in technology.

The department is seeking a manager (IT Manager I) to oversee the Security Policy Compliance Unit of the Cybersecurity Division, responsible for managing daily policy, standards and compliance operations.

The manager “will contribute to the growth of the Information Technology Branch into a customer-focused service organization by developing professional relationships, providing feedback to others with the branch,” the job posting says.

Desirable qualifications include:
  • Extensive knowledge of information security policies, standards, procedures, principles, practices and frameworks, as well as security requirements for IT projects and data processing system design
  • Ability to develop and maintain effective and cooperative working relationships, adapt easily to changing priorities and lead a diverse team of employees and/or working groups
  • Maintain consistent, predictable attendance in the performance of the essential functions
  • Experience working with control agencies, auditors, IT goods and services, security addendums and/or IT services contracts
  • Possess and maintain one or more of the following professional industry recognized certifications: Certified Information Systems Manager (CISM) or Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), Certified Information Systems Auditor

EDD is also recruiting for a database administrator (IT Specialist II) in the Data and Information Architecture Section, working on “complex system assignments that support EDD’s Relational Database Management Systems (RDBMS),” according to the job posting. “The incumbent will plan and track activities within EDD’s Mainframe Db2 z/OS system areas.”

Responsibilities of the position include:
  • Supporting Db2 development and production environments and prioritizing and monitoring the Db2 z/OS activities
  • Ensuring that adequate database capacity is maintained
  • Creation and maintenance of database objects
  • Coordinating with the California Department of Technology for installation and maintenance of Mainframe Db2 software and tools
  • Planning, installing, testing and implementing Db2 service-level upgrades and patches
