The Employment Development Department is recruiting candidates for two “fast-paced and challenging” IT specialty positions.

One position is for an application development specialist (IT Specialist I) to work in the Accounting and Compliance Enterprise System (ACES) Application Section, working with state developers, business analysts and vendors in the implementation, maintenance and enhancement of the ACES application.

Desirable qualifications for this role, according to the job posting, include:
  • On-the-job experience in project management with a strong understanding of software development life cycle.
  • Experience in application maintenance including proficiency of change control, work intake, batch processes monitoring and other related system configurations.
  • Proven ability to work effectively in a team environment and in maintaining professional working relationships inside and outside of the work unit.
  • Ability to plan, organize and adapt to changing assignments and priorities, working effectively under pressure to meet deadlines.

EDD is also recruiting for a developer (IT Specialist I) to work in the Business Intelligence (BI) Data Warehousing Group (DWG).

“The incumbent represents the interests of EDD’s program customers, department goals, and IT Branch directives in developing new BI capabilities, which lead to cost savings, improved analytical decision-making and faster response times for external and internal information requests,” the job posting says.

Desirable qualifications for the position include:
  • Microsoft SQL Server database administration, and hands-on skills supporting production databases in all operations, such as troubleshooting daily operational issues
  • Database design and modeling
  • Building APIs and/or API gateways
  • Developing in various cloud environments (public cloud, private cloud, hybrid cloud)
  • Microsoft SQL Server databases, capacity planning, performance tuning, backup/restore, troubleshooting, and maintaining high availability in complex environments and mission-critical applications
  • Creating scripts using VBScript, Batch Language, Python and Microsoft PowerShell
  • Microsoft SQL Server, Microsoft SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS), and Microsoft SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS)
