EDD Recruiting for Systems Analyst, Senior Software Developer

Both positions work with the State Disability Insurance section of the Employment Development Department.

The Employment Development Department (EDD) is recruiting to fill two specialty positions in technology.

The department is seeking to hire an IT systems analyst (IT Specialist I) to perform “a wide range of analytical responsibilities on various projects in support of the State Disability Insurance applications.”

According to the job posting, “The analyst will work with customers to identify and define problems or issues, analyze and document business requirements, create and manage the project schedules, facilitate meetings and presentations, assist with project management tasks, create and/or update documentation, and create and deliver appropriate communication for a variety of work efforts.”

Desirable qualifications for this role include:
  • Ability to use tact and good judgment while communicating and working with customers, staff, management, and other government agency or vendor representatives.
  • Ability to facilitate and document business process flows, requirements and functional design.
  • Ability to perform with attention to detail, mentally focused and flexible.
  • Strong computer skills and experience with the Microsoft Office suite, Azure Dev OPs, MS Teams and Zoom.

EDD is also seeking a senior software developer (IT Specialist I) in State Disability Insurance to “work with customers to identify and define problems or issues, analyze and document business requirements, triage and develop new code as well as maintain existing code working through the system development life cycle.

“On projects, developer experiences range from assisting with project management tasks and managing schedules to facilitating meetings and presenting solutions, in addition to their coding assignments,” the job posting says. This position reports to the SDI development manager and performs “a wide range of object-oriented development and analytical responsibilities on various projects in support of the SDI applications.”

Desirable qualifications for the role include:
  • Hands-on experience with object-oriented programming and languages (C#, JavaScript, etc.).
  • Experience as a software developer leveraging with C#.NET, ASP.NET 4.7 or above, Microsoft Visual Studio 2017 or above, Microsoft SQL 2016 or above, JavaScript, Bootstrap, JQuery and Azure DevOps to deliver solutions.
  • Experience developing and consuming Web Services, Micro Services and/or APIs within the Microsoft .NET Framework.
  • Experience with the Systems Development Lifecycle (SDLC), planning, collaborating and facilitating technical work efforts.
  • Knowledge of SQL Server Integration Services and SQL Server Reporting Services.
