EDD Seeks Applicants With Cloud Expertise for 2 Specialist Roles

The department is recruiting for a cloud application architect and a senior cloud engineer.

The Employment Development Department (EDD) is recruiting for two tech positions in the field of cloud engineering and architecture.

The cloud application architect (IT Specialist III) will “design and implement cutting-edge cloud-native applications, ensuring scalability, resilience and security across platforms like AWS, Azure and Google Cloud,” the job posting says.

The incumbent “will develop cloud solutions that integrate with existing enterprise applications, design microservices architectures and manage multiple projects effectively under tight deadlines,” the posting reads. “Your role will involve close collaboration with IT staff and business units to translate business needs into reliable cloud-based architectures, contributing to our strategic goals.”

Desirable qualifications for the role, according to the posting and the duty statement, include:
  • Demonstrated experience in designing, deploying and managing applications in the cloud using major cloud providers (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud)
  • Proficiency in cloud services, microservices architecture, containerization (Docker, Kubernetes), serverless architectures and cloud security best practices
  • Experience in leading cloud projects, including requirements gathering, resource allocation, timeline management and stakeholder communication
  • Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues in a cloud environment
In addition, candidates should have relevant cloud certifications (e.g., AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Google Cloud Professional Architect, Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect).

The monthly salary range is $8,961 to $12,009, and the application deadline is Aug. 1.

EDD is also seeking a senior cloud engineer (IT Specialist II) to provide technical expertise for the Enterprise Cloud Services Group.

“Responsibilities include on-premise and cloud system engineering tasks to build and maintain a robust infrastructure,” the job posting says. “In addition to performing maintenance, operations and enhancement tasks, the senior cloud engineer designs modern application integration architectures, functional specifications, application testing and production migrations for business applications.”

Desirable qualifications, according to the job posting and duty statement, include:
  • Experience with on-premise and cloud environments
  • Experience with VMware vSphere, vCenter and vSAN
  • Proven ability to maintain regular, consistent, predictable attendance and occasionally work beyond scheduled work hours
  • Proven ability to work effectively in a team environment
The monthly salary range is $8,130 to $10,893, and the application deadline is Aug. 1.
