Pane joined Elastic in September 2018 as the company’s first solutions architect focused on state and local government and education (SLED), providing technical and sales support services to SLED accounts for 17 western states, according to his LinkedIn profile. Since then, he’s served as senior lead and then senior manager for public-sector solutions architecture. He was promoted to the director role this month.

Elastic describes itself as “a search company that powers workplace search, observability and security solutions that can be deployed on premises, in the cloud or in hybrid environments.”

Pane said he’s excited and motivated to begin his new role.

“Leading an amazing team while working for such an innovative and amazing company is the perfect recipe for excitement, growth and success,” Pane told Industry Insider — California. “Working in the public sector has given me a deep passion for driving innovation, creating impact and change. I look forward to the future of Elastic.”

Before joining Elastic, Pane was with Red Hat, first as technical account manager and then as solutions specialist for SLED in the company’s western region.

Prior to his private-sector experience, Pane was with the California Department of Justice for almost 11 years, first as a senior programmer analyst and then as a systems software specialist.

The resident of the greater Sacramento area is an alumnus of San Diego State University, where he majored in computer science and math.

“For the past 20-plus years, I have dedicated myself to the public sector,” Pane says in his profile. “I've helped state, local and education IT teams build successful operations around open source and next-gen technologies. … I love meeting new people, developing new relationships, solving problems and contributing to the public sector’s overall success. I love data. If you love data, too, shoot me a message!”
