Energy Commission Seeking Quotes for EV Charging Dashboard

The project, which comes with a maximum contract value of $500,000, calls for an online solution to help the commission understand where the bottlenecks lie in the often-complicated process of installing EV charging infrastructure.

The California Energy Commission (CEC) is seeking quotes from vendors interested in building an online dashboard to track and visualize the process of deploying new electric vehicle charging infrastructure across the state.

The contract has a maximum value of $500,000.

The request for quotes (RFQ) outlines a vision for a dashboard that can both collect data and visualize it. Specifically, there are four key requirements:
  • Data portal/dashboard: Must be able to take in data from internal and external sources, and allow for API integration for automatic reporting
  • Relational database: Must be compatible with SQL, Salesforce, AWS and Snowflake
  • Workflows and notifications: Must allow for notifications of events for stakeholders, as well as response prompts and approvals
  • Internal approvals: Must offer a way for CEC staff to approve external submissions
The dashboard will serve to highlight for CEC, and specifically its Fuels and Transportation Division, bottlenecks in the often-complicated process of constructing new EV chargers. For any given charger installation, stakeholders might include the host of the EV charging site, a developer, construction team, engineering team, local jurisdiction with permitting authority, supply procurement and a local electric utility.

This RFQ follows an RFI CEC published in December 2023. The commission answered 20 questions from parties interested in the project.

Questions for RFQ 24-409.00-003 are due at noon Dec. 3. Responses are due at noon Jan. 3. The solicitation’s contact is Binh Qiu.
