The Financial Information System for California (FI$Cal) is recruiting for a Chief of Information Security.
The stakes are high for FI$Cal's IT security: Created in 2016, "FI$Cal enables state government to combine accounting, budgeting, cash management and procurement operations into a single financial management system," says the department's website. "When completely implemented, more than 160 state entities and 15,000 end users will conduct the financial business of California with the FI$Cal system."
The CISO position reports to Deputy Director/CIO Subbarao Mupparaju. The position is classified as Information Technology Manager II (ITM II) and is considered an executive management role. "The CISO manages the Privacy, Information Security and Compliance program and has full responsibility for all sensitive data/systems — automated and manual, physical and logical for the Department of FI$Cal," the job posting says. "The ITM II has full management responsibility for organizing, planning and directing all activities associated with the FI$Cal Enterprise Security Services (ESS) Office." The ESS office is also responsible for design, development, implementation and support of security tools including the Identity and Access Management (IdAM) tools and for managing the FI$Cal user access fulfillment processes, as well as analyzing the FI$Cal Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) System components and databases.
The application deadline for the position is April 9. The salary ranges from $103,200 to $125,500.
