Five Things to Note from WWDC17 Keynote

Apple held its annual Worldwide Developers Conference on Monday in San Jose. CEO Tim Cook kicked off the keynote to 5,000 developers by declaring that this would be the largest WWDC, a statement he has made in previous years.

VR Support

The iMac Pro has been updated to accommodate VR development. The technology was demonstrated with a Star Wars-based virtual reality scene being developed by Industrial Light and Magic.

ARKit

Apple announced its ARKit, which allows developers to make augmented reality (AR) apps for the iOS. 

 

watchOS 4 features Machine Learning



The watchOS 4 was also presented with an update that will use machine learning to display relevant info to the user.  

Send and Receive Money with Apple Pay

In demoing the updates to iMessage, Apple showed the ability to send and receive money through Apple Pay, entering the peer-to-peer payment market.

Apple HomePad

As predicted, Apple announced HomePad, which directly competes with the Amazon Echo and Google Home. It was positioned as a cross between a high-end wireless speaker, specifically comparing it to Sonos, and a voice assistant similar to Amazon Echo.
