Folsom-based VIP wins $6.5 million contract to replace Medi-Cal system

The California Department of Health Care Services (DHCS) has awarded a $6.5 million contract to Folsom-based Visionary Integration Professionals (VIP) to replace its 30-year-old Medi-Cal payment processing system.

The contract calls for VIP to support DHCS in managing the design, development, and implementation for the system to replace the California Medicaid Management Information System (CA-MMIS) which processes payments to medical providers on behalf of the 7.2 million beneficiaries of Medi-Cal, according the an announcement from the company.

The project is one of the largest and most complex healthcare technology initiatives in the country, according to the announcement.
