Lloyd Levine has joined Techwire as a contributor to its website and printed magazine. The former legislator who championed technology-related measures in the State Capitol is currently the president of Filament Strategies, LLC., a California political and policy consulting company.
Representing the 40th Assembly District in southern California, Levine, 43, served as the Chair of the Assembly Committee on Utilities and Commerce. Among the measures he authored was the Digital Infrastructure and Video Competition Act, which de-regulated the video and telecommunications industry in an attempt to help them compete with current technology.
Levine also wrote technology-related bills including procurement procedures for technology equipment and policies to increase solar energy and energy efficiency in California.
He was appointed as a member of the Governor’s Broadband Taskforce and currently serves on Board of Directors of the California Emergency Technology Fund.
After working in politics and policy for a few years Mr. Levine went back to school, attending California State University, Sacramento in the graduate school of Public Policy and Administration.
