FTB's Selvi Stanislaus wins national award for innovation

Franchise Tax Board Executive Officer Selvi Stanislaus has received a National Association of Chief Information Officers’ (NASCIO) State Technology Innovator award.

Stanislaus leads the FTB’s 5,300 permanent and 2,000 seasonal and intermittent employees and brings in $55 billion annually from California taxes. Their website offers several online services, including filing returns, checking on tax refunds, estimated taxes and forms for California residents.

The FTB is also currently working on the Enterprise Data to Revenue (EDR) Project, which will introduce a new system for filing tax returns that will be better able to capture data from tax documents and validate information. The FTB estimates that the increase in efficiency and collected tax will increase revenue by up to $1 billion annually.

The State Technology Innovator Award recognizes state employees who promote innovation in government.

The award was presented during NASCIO’s 2013 Annual Conference in Philadelphia. The other winner of the award was Colorado Secretary of State Scott Gessler.
