Longtime IT professional Steven Galvez has joined Mountain View-based Google as a Government Cloud Specialist, a position in which his public-sector experience should come in handy.

Galvez, whose LinkedIn account highlights three decades of work in the public and private sectors, had been director of consulting services since July 2018 at Red River in Sacramento, where he was responsible for state, local, education and commercial consulting across the nation.

Generally, he’s “been responsible for the total project management life cycle,” from selling through initiation, per LinkedIn; “understands the management of large-scale information technology projects … state department policies and practices,” and has “a solid relationship” with state executives.

Before joining Red River, Galvez was senior account executive from April 2013-April 2017 at Salesforce. There, he was responsible for statewide cloud development and adoption in California — and worked with the state chief information officer and executives from the Department of General Services and the California Department of Technology.

Galvez was senior vice president and partner from 1995 to 2009 at Eskel Porter Consulting in Sacramento, where his responsibilities included managing divisions and selling, securing and managing state contracts. He holds a bachelor’s degree in political science from the University of California, Davis.
