Gartner Names Amy Conrad to Lead State Account Team

The veteran tech executive said she uses her deep technical background to augment her leadership role in sales.

Amy Conrad, a veteran professional with a deep background in technology, sales and leadership, has been named to the role of team manager for Gartner.

Conrad, based in the Sacramento area, will lead a team of six Gartner account executives “who solely focus on long-term partnerships” with California state government entities. “My goal is to inspire our team to actively listen and dig in on client challenges to deliver above and beyond expectations,” Conrad told Industry Insider — California.

Conrad, who was named to her new role last month, started her career in the Chicago area as a programmer supporting government financial systems and local government service offerings, she said. She quickly expanded her role from programming to include customer-facing training. Conrad said she continued her progression of customer focus through technical roles and direct customer support with QAD, SAP and IBM. She worked in financial planning, data and analytics, and large-account management with IBM, supporting clients including California state government as well as large corporations.

She joined Gartner six years ago as a team leader and senior account executive. She chose Gartner, she said, because it’s “global, multicultural, and ranked in best places to work overall and for women.” Recent events have affirmed that decision, she said.

“Gartner proved to us as employees, throughout the pandemic, that we mattered to them, and they were there to support us, our families, and our communities. I love that Gartner is not just technology-focused.

“My role is to grow my leadership in support at Gartner and across state of CA,” she added. “I partner with my clients for life. I still connect with clients from 20 years back. Building lifelong relationships is just part of my DNA.”

Conrad said she is known “for a focus on quality partnerships, return investment and value delivery. I meet regularly with clients to ensure alignment of Gartner resources to partner on mission-critical priorities, supporting change management, leadership development and overall efficiency of operations.”

Conrad earned her Bachelor of Science in computer information science, business and accounting from North Central College.
