Gov. Jerry Brown on Wednesday appointed John Boule as the chief IT strategist for the California Health and Human Services Agency.
As director of the Office of Systems Integration, Boule, 48, will manage a multi-billion portfolio of large, complex health and human services information technology projects.
He makes the move to the largest agency in California government from San Bernardino County where he has worked as director of the California Statewide Automated Welfare System, Consortium IV since 2005.
Prior to the Automated Welfare System post, Boule of Roseville worked in various positions at the First Data Corporation from 1999 to 2005 and in multiple positions at the Arizona Department of Economic Security from 1991 to 1999.
He earned a Master of Arts degree in organization management from the University of Phoenix.
Boule replaces Deborah Rose who retired at the end of December. OSI Chief Deputy Shell Culp had served as interim director. The position does not require Senate confirmation and the compensation is $165,000.
