Governor Brown Appoints Kari Gutierrez Technology Deputy Director, Project Oversight and Consulting Division

Kari Gutierrez, 53, of Sacramento, has been appointed deputy director of the California Department of Technology’s Information Technology Project Oversight and Consulting Division. Gutierrez has been deputy director of the California Department of Technology’s Professional Development Office since 2013, where she was assistant secretary from 2012 to 2013. She served in multiple positions at the California Department of Transportation from 1996 to 2012, including chief of the Enterprise Technology Investment Division, acting chief information officer, chief of the Office of Project Implementation and manager of desktop and network support. Gutierrez was technical lead of the California Franchise Tax Board’s enterprise network from 1995 to 1996 and served in multiple positions at the California Department of Corrections from 1991 to 1995, including lead programmer and information security analyst. She was a network specialist at the Health and Welfare Data Center in 1991and held multiple positions at the California State Controller’s Office from 1987 to 1990, including programmer II, associate information systems analyst and specialist. Gutierrez was a programmer II at the California Department of Veterans Affairs from 1986 to 1987 and a programmer I and programmer II at the California Department of Mental Health from 1985 to 1986. This position does not require Senate confirmation and the compensation is $125,004. Gutierrez is a Democrat.
