2015 Year in Review No. 8: Governor’s Office Creating Public Quality-of-Life Dashboard

The Governor’s Office of Planning and Research (OPR) has embarked on an ambitious project to create a public quality-of-life dashboard. The effort, California @ 50 Million: Indicators for the Future (CA50M), was envisioned by OPR director Ken Alex and is being spearheaded by OPR Deputy Director Louise Bedsworth.

Story No. 8: The Governor’s Office of Planning and Research (OPR) has embarked on an ambitious project to create a public quality-of-life dashboard. The effort, California @ 50 Million: Indicators for the Future (CA50M), was envisioned by OPR director Ken Alex and is being spearheaded by OPR Deputy Director Louise Bedsworth. The dashboard is an outgrowth of the Governor’s Environmental Goals and Policy Report drafted in 2013 by the OPR. Over the next few months, the dashboard will be populated with as many as 25 key indicators for tracking progress toward the goals within the context of demographic and climate projections over the next several decades.
