Here Are Education Agency’s Top 5 IT Goods Purchases of 2020

The California Department of Education’s most expensive IT goods purchases last year included subscriptions to college and career resources and a purchase of laptops.

The California Department of Education made more than 400 purchases of IT goods last year and spent nearly $1.2 million on its five most expensive purchases.

CDE completed 431 IT goods buys in 2020; its five most expensive purchases cost exactly $1,159,200.03. More than half were made shortly before the end of the last Fiscal Year. Here, with rounding, is what the department spent:

  • $383,400 to National Student Clearinghouse for a one-year subscription to StudentTracker, a national resource of college enrollment and degree information provided by more than 3,500 colleges and universities, enabling research and analysis per the company’s website. CDE made the purchase Oct. 15.
  • $244,400 to Zones Inc. for “problem resolution support,” including incident resolution, multivendor coordination, diagnostics and 24-7 support. CDE made the purchase June 26, days before the June 30 end of the 2019-2020 Fiscal Year.
  • $200,000 to Headed2 LLC for a one-year subscription to California CareerZone, the company’s “state-supported career exploration and planning system” aimed at helping students prepare for higher learning and jobs afterward. The purchase came Aug. 6.
  • $179,500 to integrated tech solution provider CDW-G for training units. CDE made the purchase June 26.
  • $152,000 to Noted Technology Solutions Inc. for HP EliteBook 830 G6 laptops with I7 processors and 16GB of memory. The purchase was made June 23.
