Here Are Financial Information System’s Top 5 IT Service Buys of 2021

The Financial Information System for California’s five most expensive purchases of IT goods this year accounted for many millions in spend, and three were made with the same vendor.

The state’s IT system for accounting, budget, cash management and procurement made just more than 20 purchases of IT services through Dec. 15 but spent more than $20 million on its five most expensive purchases.

The Financial Information System for California (FI$Cal) made 24 buys of IT goods through mid-December — spending $20,187,386 on its five most costly expenditures, based on data in the State Contract and Procurement Registration System. With rounding, here’s where that money went:

  • $8.8 million with the California State Controller’s Office for IT services via an interagency agreement for partner services, across the 2021-2022 Fiscal Year that began July 1. FI$Cal made the purchase Sept. 17.
  • $5 million with Accenture for PeopleSoft functional support and IT consulting services, also for the current fiscal year. This is an 18-month contract, from June 7-Dec. 6, 2022.
  • $2.4 million with Accenture for system integrator services. FI$Cal made the purchase Aug. 31.
  • $2 million with KPMG for support and consulting services around artificial intelligence and robotic process automation. FI$Cal made the purchase April 14.
  • $2 million with Accenture for application development consulting services. This is another 18-month contract, from June 14-Dec. 13, 2022.
