The department charged with enhancing public safety and promoting the rehabilitation of the incarcerated in California spent millions on IT goods in October, with its five most expensive purchases in that area landing in the mid-seven figures.

The California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation made 120 purchases of IT goods altogether and spent more than $6 million on the five costliest buys. CDCR spent $6,512,554 on those purchases, based on data in the State Contracting and Procurement Registration System. With rounding, here’s where that money went:

  • $1.4 million with Trinity Technology Group for “UiPath – MultiUser Add-on,” likely a volume purchase of the company’s robotic process automation technology. CDCR made the purchase Oct. 21.
  • $1.4 million with Kovarus Inc. for “VMware Cloud Suite FY 21/22,” a reference to a suite of VMware’s cloud offerings. CDCR made the purchase Oct. 12.
  • $1.3 million with Taborda Solutions Inc. for ”Oracle Business Intelligence Suite Enter,” likely a purchase of the company’s enterprise-level business intelligence products. CDCR made the purchase Oct. 6.
  • $1.2 million with PC Specialists Inc. for “CHCF Dell Latitude 7420 - i7” and “Dell Latitude 7420 - i5,” likely a volume purchase of two of Dell’s Latitude-series laptops. CDCR made the purchase Oct. 5.
  • $1.1 million with ePlus Technology Inc. for “DatAdvantage Varonis DAW-10K-20KOS for Windows On-Prem Subscription for 11,500 Users,” probably a volume purchase of DatAdvantage, the “heart” of the company’s data security platform, per its website.
