Hervey is a veteran of the tech industry, having started with WordPerfect Corp. in 1990 and subsequently working for Novell Inc. and Symantec before joining Tableau earlier this month.
Tableau is widely used in government and education as a dashboard tool and also for data visualization.
"I'm looking forward to learning more about business intelligence/data analytics and helping our state and local government customers better see and understand their data," Hervey, who holds an MBA from Brigham Young University, told Techwire. "I'm also thrilled to be working for such a customer-focused organization as Tableau Software."
