Comcast has named Mary Stutts to the newly-created position of Regional Vice President of External Affairs for California, announced Hank Fore, Regional Senior Vice President for Comcast California, on Tuesday.
Stutts, who will be based in the company’s Livermore office, will report to Fore on Comcast’s government affairs, community investment and telecommunication policy in California.
"Mary has a proven track record as an external affairs executive, strategic thinker, trusted advisor and a motivational leader," Fore said. "Her understanding of corporate social responsibility and experience in directing large public affairs teams make her the perfect choice to tell Comcast’s story to our external stakeholders."
Stutts has held external affairs positions at Genentech, Kaiser Permanente, Bristol-Myers Squibb, Bayer and UnitedHealth Group. She served as the Vice President of Corporate Communications at Bristol-Myers Squibb and as the Senior Vice President of Corporate Relations at Elan Pharmaceuticals.
Stutts is also the founding member of the Communications Executive Council of the Corporate Executive Board, which provides research and advisory services to businesses. According to the announcement, The Network Journal named her the publication’s 2012 list of 25 Influential Black Women in Business, and the Black Health Magazine named her as one of the 25 Most Influential African Americans in Healthcare.
