Today: Big Day of Giving: Let's Close the Gap!
Closing the Gap (CTG) funds local organizations that provide tutoring, college counselling and career guidance to students from 8th-12th grade who have limited resources to pursue higher education and vocational training, thus helping to close the academic achievement gap in our Sacramento region’s schools.
Today, we invite you to donate to Closing the Gap on the BIG Day of Giving, a regional event, where, over a 24 hour period from midnight to midnight, Closing the Gap will join with 500 other nonprofits to raise $5 million.
Less than 35% of students in the Sacramento region graduate from high school with the necessary coursework to apply to a four year university. Closing the Gap’s mission is to close this gap and help students prepare and apply for education at a four year college or university.

Closing the Gap’s all volunteer team recruits, vets, funds, focuses and supports the work of programs with proven track records of success. Closing the Gap is highly effective at identifying and facilitating opportunities for existing programs and organizations to collaborate with one another. These collaborations serve to leverage, scale and combine the expertise of multiple initiatives to result in a greater number of students receiving increasingly comprehensive support that leads to their success.
