Starting In January, California drivers will be able to show proof of auto insurance using a smart phone after Governor Brown signed AB 1708 by Assemblymember Mike Gatto (D-Los Angeles) into law on Friday.
The bill gives drivers the option of presenting proof of insurance in electronic form, such as on a smart phone or iPad.
"It only makes sense for the state where the iPad was designed to remain on the technological forefront,” said Gatto in a press statement. "As lawmakers, we should always be on the lookout for ways to help state law evolve with technology in a way that allows for more efficiency in the way business is transacted in California."
