Montgomery has been deputy director of CDCR since 2018, and before that she served as controller for the California Public Employees’ Retirement System (CalPERS) from 2013 to 2018.
“In my new role as CIO for CDCR’s Enterprise Information Services, I will uphold the department’s vision to provide a safer California through correctional excellence,” Montgomery told Techwire via email. “I will focus on developing strong partnerships and collaborating with my talented team of IT professionals to ensure we are staying current with emerging technologies and leveraging these technologies to advance security, safety and rehabilitation. I look forward to growing with this team and continuing to serve as a transparent, reliable, creative and productive CDCR entity.”
Before entering the public sector in 2013, Montgomery was the owner and consultant with Dolamont Consulting from 2006 to 2013. Prior to that, she had been affiliated with Trinity Technology Group and Franklin Templeton Group. She received her bachelor’s degree in accounting from Wartburg College and her master’s in business administration/finance from California State University, East Bay.
A spokesperson for CDCR, Alia Cruz, said she’s excited about Montgomery’s appointment.
“She is CDCR’s first female CIO,” Cruz told Techwire, “and we are so proud of her!”
Montgomery’s appointment requires confirmation by the state Senate. The annual compensation is $183,348.
